Associates join a practice group and are assigned a mentor when they join the firm. New associates typically work with several members of the practice group to gain a wide variety of experiences. Our mentor program is structured to partner each associate with a shareholder who will help them in all aspects of their legal career including technical skills, business development and general law firm processes.

As a full-service health law firm, we have hired a number of attorneys who gained substantial experience working in the health care field. Many of our attorneys returned to law school after successful careers in nursing, pharmacy, other allied health professions, as well as hospital administration and government positions impacting the health care industry. Some of the firm's attorneys served as in-house counsel for hospitals, health care systems and agencies familiar to the health care industry.

Hall Render's law clerk program typically runs from May through August but we also hire law clerks throughout the school year. The firm hires students who have outstanding academic credentials as well as maturity and motivation. It is the firm's preference to hire permanent associates from our law clerk program.

The law clerks are given the opportunity to develop working relationships with the firm's attorneys and staff. Our law clerks receive assignments that include legal research, writing, drafting, and due diligence and are considered part of our team. They are assigned real, interesting and challenging legal work and are allowed, when possible, to participate in all aspects of our practice. Law clerks are also invited to attend practice group meetings and will work with multiple attorneys. Each law clerk is evaluated on a continual basis, informally during the summer and at a more formal basis at the end of the summer.
