Legal Administrative Assistant
Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, P.C., a national health care law firm focused exclusively on matters specific to health care organizations, seeks a friendly, energetic and experienced Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA) for our Raleigh, NC, office. The LAA will perform a wide variety of legal administrative duties. The LAA will support multiple Attorneys in an inclusive team environment. Major duties of this position include providing comprehensive and efficient administrative and secretarial support, preparing and editing correspondence, complex documents, legal documents including contracts, presentation decks, tables and spreadsheets, complicated calendar management, maintaining paper and electronic files, and time entry and billing tasks. Generally, this position is for Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm, and exclusively full-time. LAA should be able to work independently and self-manage their workload and tasks provided by the attorneys they support and supporting the Office Manager for firm/office events and other general office upkeeping tasks.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Helping Attorneys solve problems by finding reliable solutions while working within Firm policies and procedures.
- Developing comfort and proficiency with all necessary Firm software and providing first-line support to Attorneys.
- Drafting, editing and proofreading a variety of complex documents for correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, format and content.
- Creating and maintaining paper and electronic client files.
- Assisting with timekeeping, payment processing requests and coordinating billing processes.
- Scheduling, docketing and calendar management.
- Travel arrangements and expense report processing.
- Effectively communicating and integrating with clients and courts.
- Project management.
- Attorney membership and licensing credential support and management.
- Serving as a backup LAA to administrative team members and Office Manager.
Requirements
- Extremely professional, flexible, and dependable.
- Ability to communicate with others at all levels in a pleasant, courteous, and professional manner.
- Proficiency in and advanced knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel functions, with an aptitude for quickly learning various other programs.
- Excellent administrative, writing, grammar and proofreading skills.
- Document management and document conversion skillset in Microsoft Word.
- Ability to self-manage and work independently, including working with team members to find solutions to technical problems.
- Desire to perform as an active team player.
- Quality-minded and detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility in responding to ever-changing demands and types of work practices.
- Display of good judgment, confidentiality and discretion.
- Ability to respond with a sense of urgency, be proactive and assertive, and manage up to senior levels.
Education and Qualifications
- High school diploma from an accredited institution.
- Five-plus years of law firm and/or legal department or Real Estate attorney support experience. Experience of administrative support in other fields also taken into consideration, if no experience in law firm or real estate firm.

Schedule:
- 7.5-hour day shift
- Monday to Friday
Travel requirement:
- UPS drop-offs occasionally, but paid by mileage if needed.
Work Location: Raleigh Office
- In-office at least 3 days a week on scheduled in-office days (2 days/week WFH hybrid option)
