About Charlotte

Charlotte Fillenwarth focuses her practice on employment-based immigration in the health care industry by assisting clients with the recruitment and retention of foreign talent on a national, regional and local level. She has a unique understanding of the immigration issues facing hospitals and health care groups, and uses this knowledge to prepare immigration strategies to meet clients’ needs. This includes working with individual employees, as well as assisting clients with large-scale immigration initiatives.

Charlotte regularly assists clients with hiring foreign employees by seeking temporary work authorization on their behalf (H-1B, TN, H-1B1, E-3, F-1/OPT, O-1, EAD). This includes obtaining J-1 waivers on behalf of foreign physicians subject to the two-year home residence requirement (state Conrad 30 waivers, HHS waiver, DRA waivers and ARC waivers). She also assists clients with retaining foreign employees by pursuing permanent residency on their behalf (PERM Labor Certification, Physician National Interest Waivers, EB-1 Extraordinary Ability). This also includes the Schedule A process for foreign nurses and physical therapists, both in the U.S. and abroad. To best serve her clients, Charlotte focuses on gaining a comprehensive understanding of clients' immigration-related needs in order to develop creative and effective solutions that adjust to, and comply with, constantly evolving immigration regulations and laws.

In addition to her immigration practice, Charlotte also has extensive experience counseling clients on Form I-9, including completion, documentation, storage, audits and discrimination, as well as E-Verify, including enrollment, verification, agents, tentative nonconfirmations, audits and desk reviews.

Charlotte received her law degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and her Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University.
