Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, P.C., a national health care-focused law firm, continues to reinforce its commitment to provide exceptional client service to the health care industry with the recent addition of Philip Davis to its Indianapolis office.
Drawing upon more than a decade of dedicated experience in health care IT security and privacy, Phil offers a distinct perspective honed through his role as a health care IT executive at a large health system. In this capacity, he structured the development of an effective information security program and successfully implemented solutions to enhance security policy management and risk mitigation processes. Phil’s unique experience allows him to offer practical, actionable guidance to health care entities confronting security challenges, including the threat of cyberattacks that could impact patient care.
Phil will enhance Hall Render’s capacity to effectively assist clients in a wide variety of matters, including HIPAA and HITECH compliance, government investigations and IT procurement. By partnering with clients, including hospitals and health systems, physician practices, technology companies and more, Phil will help them navigate the regulatory uncertainties of data breaches, security incident response and information technology risk.

In his most recent role as the VP & Chief Information Security Officer for Community Health, Phil structured and led an information security program that successfully navigated the health care cyber and regulatory landscape while still enabling clinicians to provide excellent care for patients.

My prior experience from the client’s perspective has equipped me with a distinct vantage point, allowing me to deeply understand the challenges faced by health care clients and offer strategic solutions to effectively manage a wide spectrum of cybersecurity and privacy issues,” shared Davis.
Phil is an integrated member of the information security and privacy communities and enjoys collaborating and speaking on issues related to health care privacy and security. He serves on the Indiana Executive Counsel on Cybersecurity (IECC), offering leadership to the state of Indiana regarding cybersecurity preparedness. Additionally, he is an active member of the Health Sector Coordinating Council (HSCC) Cybersecurity Working Group (CWG), the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and the American Health Law Association.
Phil is a graduate of Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and holds a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from ISC2.
