- JLL published the results of its 2025 Patient Consumer Survey. Key takeaways: 1) access and affordability are persistent challenges for U.S. health care; 2) location and convenience of a health care facility are key to choosing a provider; and 3) the quality of a particular health care facility is a top factor when choosing a provider.
- Wellstar Health received the necessary approvals to build a $1.1B hospital in Acworth, GA. The 230-bed hospital will be eight stories, 675,000 sf and have 70 emergency department bays.
- RWJBarnabas Health announced plans to build a new 252-bed hospital and cancer center in Tinton Falls, NJ. The beds for the hospital will be relocated from RWJ’s Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, which will be modernized in the process.
- UNC Health has filed a certificate of need application to build a $711M, 129-bed hospital near Asheville, NC. If approved, this would be a major expansion effort for UNC Health beyond its presence in the Research Triangle.

- Novant Health has filed a certificate of need application to build a $251M, 20-bed hospital in Leland, NC, which is located in the fastest growing county in North Carolina.
- Hartford HealthCare’s $86.1M bid to acquire Manchester Memorial Hospital and Rockville General Hospital, both in Connecticut, has been approved by a U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Texas. The transaction must be approved by state regulators before it can be completed.
- Community Health Systems, Inc. announced plans to sell three hospitals in Pennsylvania to Tenor Health Foundation. The hospitals involved in the transaction are the Regional Hospital of Scranton, Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
- Urgent care clinics have emerged as an essential part of the U.S. health care landscape. Based on recent data, there are 11,877 urgent care clinics in the U.S. The metro areas with the highest number of urgent care clinics are: 1) New York (787); 2) Los Angeles (466); 3) Dallas (304); 4) Atlanta (299); and 5) Chicago (296).
- A portion of the former Boston State Hospital campus will be developed into 287 housing units. A majority of the units will be permanently earmarked as affordable housing.
