Hall Render mourns the loss of our friend, colleague and former Managing Partner, Jeffrey “Jeff” Peek.
Jeff was among the early attorneys whose leadership, vision and dedication helped shape Hall Render’s growth and success for decades. Working alongside Terry Heath and Steve Lyman, Jeff played an instrumental role in building the Firm and establishing the culture of excellence, collaboration and client service that continues to define Hall Render today.
Throughout his 43-year career, Jeff earned a reputation as a trusted advisor and mentor. Clients valued his exceptional legal intellect and practical judgment. Colleagues admired his generosity, his quick wit and the genuine care he showed for everyone around him.
Jeff served as Hall Render’s Managing Partner for eight years and guided the Firm through important periods of growth and development. His influence extended well beyond client matters and leadership responsibilities through the mentorship of generations of attorneys and professionals across the Firm.
A graduate of Butler University with a degree in accounting and the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Jeff was also a Certified Public Accountant and served as an adjunct professor of taxation at Butler University. His passion for teaching and sharing knowledge reflected his lifelong commitment to the profession and to developing future leaders.
In a letter earlier this year, Jeff described the four pillars of his life: St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Highland Golf & Country Club, Butler University and Hall Render. He gave generously to each of them. At Butler, where he lettered in golf, he helped establish the Butler University Athletic Hall of Fame. Over four decades at Highland, he held nearly every leadership role, including President and Chairman of the Board, and he long served as treasurer of St. Luke’s.
Those who knew Jeff best will remember his humor and his gift for connecting with people. He was an avid fan of golf, baseball, basketball and football, a collector of coins and sports memorabilia and an adventurous traveler.
Above all, Jeff was devoted to his family. He made time to coach his children’s sports teams, spoke of his family with great pride and counted time with them as his favorite pastime. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Debra; his children, Steven and Laura; and his grandchildren, all of whom were the center of his life.
His legacy will live on through the clients he served, the colleagues he mentored, the Firm he helped build and the many friendships he forged throughout his life.
We extend our deepest condolences to Jeff’s family, friends, former colleagues and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
