About Kathryn
Kathryn Jones is a health care employment and litigation attorney who advises and defends providers in complex workplace, commercial and medical staff disputes.
As a Shareholder in Hall Render’s Detroit office, Kathryn partners with health care organizations across the employment lifecycle, providing strategic counseling from hiring through separation, overseeing internal investigations, developing workplace policies and serving as litigation counsel when disputes arise. She regularly represents health care organizations in contested matters, with advocacy clients in state and federal courts, before administrative agencies and in medical staff peer review fair hearing proceedings.
Kathryn’s practice includes:
- Litigating and defending discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage‑and‑hour and leave‑related claims in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies;
- Counseling executive and HR professionals on all aspects of the employment relationship from performance management and corrective action to workforce restructuring, accommodations and leave of absence administration;
- Conducting pre‑litigation risk assessments and advising executives and leadership on exposure, strategy and resolution options in a manner designed to minimize disruption to operations and patient care;
- Conducting internal investigations and advising on the development and drafting of employment policies and agreements, and delivering compliance-focused training for employees, supervisors, clinicians and executives; and
- Representing hospitals and medical executive committees in peer review fair hearings and related litigation.
Prior to joining Hall Render, Kathryn served as Deputy General Counsel for a large dental support organization, where she was lead in‑house counsel for employment law matters across multiple states. She brings that in‑house perspective to her work with clients, helping leadership, HR and legal teams to assess risk, guide strategy and resolve disputes efficiently while supporting operational and organizational priorities.
