About Kerry
Kerry Dutra practices out of Hall Render's Raleigh office and advises a wide array of clients on commercial transactions and contracting, focusing on precision medicine, genomics and big data arrangements. Kerry regularly assists health systems and providers, as well as industry start-ups and biobanks, with structuring and negotiating data licensing, research collaboration, commercialization and material transfer arrangements. Kerry provides practical guidance to help clients meet their goals while protecting valuable interests in both biological and data assets and mitigating regulatory risk. She also has experience in drafting and negotiating joint venture, management services, professional services, leasing, consulting and product sourcing arrangements.
In addition to her work in commercial transactions, Kerry counsels health systems, physician practices and other providers on compliance with Stark Law and the federal Anti-Kickback Statute as well as other regulatory and compliance matters. She frequently supports clients with technical Stark Law and Anti-Kickback analyses, compliance with Corporate Integrity Agreement requirements, provider compensation matters and physician contracting.
Kerry graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law and received her undergraduate degree with distinction from Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in law school, she served as a staff member of the North Carolina Law Review and as a member of the UNC Law Pro Bono Board. Prior to joining Hall Render as an associate, Kerry clerked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Office of General Counsel.
