About Matt
Matt Schappa is a health care litigation attorney who defends hospitals, health systems and physician groups in complex disputes, government investigations and high-stakes lawsuits.
Relationship-driven in his approach, Matt works closely with health care executives and legal teams to navigate litigation strategically, minimize disruption to patient-care operations and secure practical outcomes.
Matt’s practice includes:
- Litigating complex contract and tort disputes involving health care providers;
- Representing providers in False Claims Act investigations and whistleblower lawsuits;
- Guiding hospitals and health systems through government investigations and regulatory scrutiny; and
- Representing health care organizations in payor disputes, arbitration and negotiations.
Matt is passionate about engaging in pro bono work and serves on the Board of Child Advocates—an organization dedicated to providing legal services to children throughout Indiana.
Outside of his legal practice, Matt is a guitar aficionado, running enthusiast and huge fan of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. He lives near Indianapolis with his wife, Eryn, their three children and two ill-behaved Labradors.
