About Rene

Rene Larkin is a health care attorney who partners with rural hospitals, sole community hospitals, physician practices and health care nonprofits on governance, transactional and operational matters.

She works closely with C‑suite executives and boards to support strategic transactions, optimize governance and address day‑to‑day operational challenges, taking a practical and relationship‑driven approach to helping organizations strengthen their ability to serve their communities. Rene frequently serves as general outside counsel, advising clients not only when issues arise but as an ongoing strategic partner. As the daughter and now spouse of small business owners in heavily regulated industries, she brings a personal understanding of regulatory and its impact on businesses, employees and the communities they serve.

Rene’s practice includes:

Counseling boards and leadership on governance considerations and compliance; and
Advising critical access, rural hospitals and physician practices on on operational matters and governance matters; and
Assisting with strategic sales and acquisitions of health care entities and practices.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time in the mountains, traveling with her husband and four children and cooking for family and friends.

Representative Experience

Buyer’s counsel for a county hospital in the purchase of a physician practice, ambulatory surgery center and medical office building.
Partner with local counsel, serving as health care counsel to a multi-campus critical access hospital, advising on board governance matters, conditions of participation, state licensing, consent forms and physician arrangements.
Represent critical access hospital in rural eastern plains of Colorado, advising on potential acquisition of senior living facility, board governance, county partnership and mobile clinic program.
Serve as outside general counsel to sole community hospital, advising on all matters, including board matters, physician strategy and affiliations, provider based clinic strategy, vendor agreements, compliance matters and human resource matters.
Represent critical access hospital in Montana advising board and executive team on compliance matters, governance matters and executive transition.
