Skilled Nursing Compliance and Ethics Update – Regulations, Operational Keys, and Adapting Your Program to a COVID World

This session will review current required elements as set out in the Requirements of Participation’s (RoPs) proposed/final regulations for a skilled nursing facility compliance and ethics program. The session will review CMS surveyor guidance (if released ahead of session) on how they will survey and review skilled nursing compliance and ethics programs. We will review pending proposed regulations that impact and change skilled nursing compliance and ethics programs. We will review key compliance areas that a skilled nursing compliance program can address to adapt to COVID regulatory issues. We will also discuss compliance program work plans, annual reviews, facility risk assessments, and how providers can tailor their compliance and ethics program to their circumstances and unique characteristics. Attendees will learn to perform an effectiveness review of their compliance and ethics program using a tool that sets out what is required by the regulations that will provide questions to ask to verify compliance and a way to display the results of your effectiveness review.
