Event: Tax Talk: Examining the IRS Headwinds Facing Tax-Exempt Hospitals and Health Systems
[08/28/2024 - 1:00 PM]
Synopsis:
Join us for our upcoming webinar, “Tax Talk: Examining the IRS Headwinds Facing Tax-Exempt Hospitals and Health Systems,” on August 28.
Over the last 12 to 18 months, tax-exempt hospitals and health systems have been hearing and seeing increased scrutiny from Congress, state and local governments and the media regarding the basis for tax-exempt status. Meanwhile, publication of the final regulations under Code Section 501(r) will mark their 10th anniversary later this year, and what constitutes compliance still seems elusive in some ways. This webinar will examine current developments relevant to tax-exempt hospitals and health systems, with a focus on helping organizations think strategically and plan for what may come next. Topics that will be addressed will include:
- Recent developments regarding scrutiny from Congress, as well as state and local governments;
- What’s next for the community benefit standard and other regulatory guidance post-Chevron;
- 501(r) compliance considerations and IRS audit activities; and
- Other federal activities, including increased focus on pandemic-era financial support programs.
Speaker(s): Jeff Carmichael, Calvin Chambers, Jim Willey and Marlene Zieah
