- Atrium Health has submitted a certificate of need application to develop a new hospital in Wilmington, North Carolina. Atrium’s application follows applications submitted by Novant Health and UNC Health for new hospitals in Wilmington. State regulators have determined the Wilmington area is in need of 225 more hospital beds.
- Cone Health has submitted a certificate of need application to develop a new $320M hospital in Forsyth County, North Carolina. The plans include 56 acute care beds, 18 emergency bays, four procedure rooms and 10 observation beds.
- Bon Secours has added 12 new urgent care centers to its footprint in Virginia. The urgent care centers were previously operated under the MedExpress name. The health system now operates 24 urgent care centers across Virginia, with 11 located in its Richmond market.
- An affiliate of Methodist Healthcare is reportedly planning a 250-room dual-branded hotel near the health system’s campus in Northeast San Antonio. The hotel will include a Hilton Garden Inn and Home 2 Suites. A block of rooms will be available at a reduced rate or free of charge for low-income families travelling to San Antonio for health care. The hotel is part of a mixed-use development that will include residential, restaurant, office and educational uses.

- Atrium Health has transferred 14 acres in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the city’s public housing authority. The property has been earmarked for affordable housing. Over the past five years, Atrium has contributed more than $51M towards affordable housing and homelessness solutions in the Charlotte region.
- Fall River Health Services has agreed to fund $2.3M towards a new residential development near its Hot Springs, South Dakota, campus. The project will create 48 new affordable homes for health care workers.
- HCA Healthcare broke ground on a $15M free-standing emergency department in Cane Bay, a master-planned community in Summerville, South Carolina. This marks HCA’s fifth free-standing emergency department in the Lowcountry.
- A former 22-acre hospital campus in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, has been purchased by Heart Collaboration Center. The campus will be repurposed for medical research.
- Tampa General Hospital has secured two significant gifts to support its new neuroscience and transplant tower on its Davis Island campus. The Foundation secured a $10M gift in March and a $1M gift this month.
