About John

John Bowen focuses his practice on corporate and transactional health care law, providing advice and counsel to some of our country’s largest health systems and physician group practices. He regularly counsels clients through mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity transactions and securities offerings. John has served as lead counsel representing a variety of buyers and sellers in health care transactions around the country, including hospitals, health systems, behavioral health providers, large physician groups and private equity. In connection with his M&A practice, John advises clients on strategic matters, corporate governance, representations and warranties insurance, corporate practice of medicine and regulatory compliance.

John also has experience serving as general counsel, handling the review of complex agreements and ensuring compliance with health care fraud and abuse laws, and addressing the day-to-day legal, operational and governance challenges that health care entities face. Additionally, John supports clients on antitrust matters, counseling health systems, hospitals and physicians on the antitrust requirements of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and provider networks. In this capacity, he frequently obtains clearance from the FTC and DOJ under the premerger reporting requirements of the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Act and defends providers in government antitrust investigations.

John lives in Indianapolis with his wife, Allison, their two dogs, Scout and Burki, and their cat, Ollie.
