Jim Burke is a nationally recognized health care attorney, CPA and strategic advisor with more than 30 years of leadership experience across the legal, financial and operational dimensions of health care. A Principal Advisor at Hall Render, one of the nation’s largest health care-focused law firms, Jim helps hospitals, health systems and physician enterprises design and implement enterprise-level strategies that integrate legal, financial and clinical priorities.

Before joining Hall Render, Jim served as CAO/COO and General Counsel for a $550M regional health system, where he led transformative initiatives in value-based care, physician alignment and population health. His experience also includes executive legal leadership in two of the nation’s largest Catholic health systems, where he built in-house legal teams, redesigned compliance programs and supported multi-state operations across complex regulatory environments.

Jim began his career in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served for over a decade as both an enlisted Marine and later as a Judge Advocate (JAG) and Command Advisor. That experience shaped his disciplined, mission-oriented approach to leadership and client service. Combined with his CPA and MBA training, Jim offers clients a rare blend of legal acumen, business insight and operational perspective.

He is a sought-after speaker on hospital-physician alignment, value-based enterprise design and the strategic transformation of health care delivery.
