About John
John Tyson is a health care operations attorney who advises hospitals, ambulatory centers and post-acute providers on regulatory, compliance and operational matters.
John works with in-house legal, compliance and information security teams to navigate challenges involving health information technology, privacy and clinical operations. He provides practical, risk-based guidance on licensing, accreditation and regulatory requirements, as well as technology-driven transactions, helping clients protect sensitive data while supporting business objectives. John is known for his collaborative approach and detail-oriented work product.
John’s practice includes:
- Drafting and negotiating health IT and privacy-related agreements, including software licensing, SaaS, business associate and data use agreements;
- Advising on data privacy, security and HIPAA compliance, including strategies to safeguard sensitive information;
- Counseling on licensure, accreditation and regulatory requirements, including during business transactions;
- Assessing vendor agreement risk and advising on solutions to minimize operational and legal exposure; and
- Supporting clients on broader compliance and operational matters impacting care delivery.
Drawing on his prior experience as a clinical research coordinator at a large academic medical center, John brings a practical understanding of clinical operations and trial management. He is also a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a medic and developed critical skills in delivering care under pressure.
Outside of work, John enjoys urban gardening and attending live music events with his wife.
