About Joseph
Joe Kahn is a nationally recognized health care M&A attorney who advises hospitals and health systems on transformative transactions across the country.
He partners with executive teams and in‑house legal departments on strategically significant mergers, acquisitions and affiliations, working closely with clients to develop and execute transaction strategies that advance long‑term organizational goals. Joe represents both acquiring and selling parties and is frequently engaged in some of the largest and most complex health care transactions in the industry.
Joe’s practice includes:
- Leading large-scale health care mergers and acquisitions, including a health system merger transaction valued at over $15 billion;
- Advising buyers and sellers in complex health system transactions, including serving as lead counsel to multiple health systems in the sale of outreach laboratory service lines;
- Structuring joint ventures and joint operating arrangements; and
- Guiding health systems through strategic affiliations and reorganizations.
Joe serves as Managing Partner of the Firm’s Raleigh office and is a past Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Health Law Section and a past President of the North Carolina Society of Health Care Attorneys. He is active in his community, having served as Chair of the Central and Western North Carolina Make-A-Wish Foundation and as a board member of Schoolhouse of Wonder.
