About Katherine
Katherine Schwartz is a health care regulatory attorney who advises hospitals, health systems, providers and physician groups on fraud and abuse compliance, physician arrangements and complex regulatory matters.
She partners with leadership and in-house counsel to navigate Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute and Civil Monetary Penalties requirements, delivering practical, results-driven guidance that supports both compliance and business objectives. Katherine often serves as an extension of her clients’ legal teams, providing day-to-day counsel on regulatory and compliance matters.
Katherine’s practice includes:
- Advising on fraud and abuse compliance and regulatory risk;
- Structuring physician arrangements and compliant coverage agreements;
- Leading regulatory review in transactions, with a focus on fraud and abuse considerations;
- Structuring arrangements and advising on emerging issues, including EKRA compliance and laboratory relationships; and
- Supporting provider enrollment.
She regularly advises executive and legal teams on risk assessment and is a frequent national speaker on fraud and abuse topics. Prior to joining Hall Render, Katherine practiced assisted reproductive technology law.
Katherine speaks Russian, Spanish, French and English, bringing a global perspective and ability to connect with clients across diverse backgrounds. She lives north of Indianapolis with her husband, their two children and two mischievous cats, and enjoys spending time with family, traveling and baking.
