About Katie

Katie Miller focuses her practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, physician transactions and intellectual property. Katie has extensive experience advising clients, which include hospitals, health systems, physician groups, behavioral health, physical therapy and home health organizations, on matters relating to health care transactions from strategic planning to due diligence and negotiations to integration.

Katie also has experience serving as general counsel, handling the review of complex agreements and ensuring compliance with health care fraud and abuse laws. Additionally, she supports clients with their intellectual property needs, advising on trademark-related matters, including trademark availability searches, monitoring trademarks and copyrights and assisting startup companies with trademark/IP licensing.

Katie is a member of the American Health Law Association and is actively involved in Executive Women in Healthcare, where she previously served as President. In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters and two dogs and participating in a variety of sports, including golf and tennis, as well as attending Indy Eleven games.

  • Transaction counsel for a private equity-backed physician network in the purchase of an asset.
  • Served as lead transaction and antitrust counsel for a regional non-profit health system that merged with another non-profit health system in a transaction where our client was the “surviving” entity.
  • Lead counsel for a community hospital whose membership was transferred from a non-profit organization to another health system.
  • Transaction counsel for a physician group in the combination of two orthopedic physician groups via asset purchase and physician ownership purchases.
  • Transaction counsel for a home health care organization in the minority membership interest sale in home health agency to the hospital system.
