About Mary Kate
Mary Kate Liffrig is a health care employment attorney who advises hospitals, health care systems and physician practices on workforce issues and patient non‑discrimination compliance.
She provides day‑to‑day guidance on routine employment matters and assists clients with complex situations involving accommodations, leaves of absence and compliance with federal and state employment laws. In addition, Mary Kate provides guidance to clients on compliance with patient accommodations and non-discrimination and compliance with federal and state accommodation laws, including Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act.
Mary Kate’s practice includes:
- Advising on compliant leaves of absence and accommodation requests;
- Reviewing employee handbooks and employment policies, as well as drafting and negotiating employment contracts;
- Counseling on patient and employee complaints involving discrimination or accessibility; and
- Supporting employers on general employment compliance matters and day-to-day employment-related challenges.
Mary Kate works frequently with hospitals and physician practices, including those in rural settings. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their four children, hiking and reading.
