As part of our commitment to supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, we are proud to offer the Hall Render Scholarship Program, which will be awarded to a highly motivated law student. This paid summer associate position includes up to $15,000 in scholarships to help defray the recipient’s tuition costs or related expenses. 

As a preeminent law firm focused exclusively on the health care industry, a position with Hall Render provides the opportunity to gain experience alongside our team of attorneys and to serve clients across the nation. 

Historically underrepresented candidates in the legal profession, including but not limited to racial, ethnic and gender minorities, members of the LGBTQ community, individuals with disabilities, veterans and students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, are encouraged to apply for the chance to receive: 

  • A $5,000 scholarship upon starting in the 2025 summer associate program; 
  • Preferred consideration for return in the 2026 summer associate program and an award of an additional $5,000 scholarship if the individual is offered, accepts and starts in Hall Render’s 2026 summer associate program; and 
  • An additional $5,000 upon successful completion of the 2026 summer associate program and return to Hall Render as a first-year associate attorney following law school graduation if offered a position. 

Note: The scholarship is in addition to the salary paid to the student for their summer associate position. 

Eligibility

We welcome applications from law students who anticipate graduating from law school in 2027 and who: 

  • Are enrolled as either full-time or part-time students at an ABA-accredited law school; 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to promoting belonging and inclusion a result of background, experience, personal attributes or characteristics; and 
  • Are likely to practice in one of our offices post-graduation. 

Selection Criteria

Recipients will be selected based on the following factors: 

  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion 
  • Undergraduate and law school academic performance 
  • Personal achievement 
  • Demonstrated leadership ability 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Commitment to succeed as a lawyer in a private practice environment 
  • Personal statement (500 words or less) describing how your unique perspective and varying life experiences have shaped your interest in law and/or the health care industry
  • Location requirement: While subject to change, we currently anticipate that the summer associate position will be located at the Indianapolis, Indiana, Troy, Michigan or  Washington, D.C. Hall Render office.

The following MUST be included with your application: 

  • Resume; 
  • Cover letter;
  • Unofficial undergraduate and law school transcript through the last semester completed (if an applicant’s law school transcript is not available at the time of application, it may be submitted after the application is filed); and 
  • Personal statement as outlined above. 

Applications will be accepted and considered on a rolling basis from Sunday, December 1, 2024 through Monday, January 6, 2025, or until positions are filled.

Applicants must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States without restriction. At this time, Hall Render is unable to provide immigration sponsorship (i.e., H-1B, Permanent Residency).
