Research Services Specialist

The Research Services Specialist is part of the research team within the Research & Information Services department. The duties and responsibilities of the Research Services Specialist will include, but not be limited to the following:

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide reference/research assistance to all employees utilizing print and electronic research methods
  • Perform research and compile substantial quantities of business development research reports, often taking the lead on the organization, research, finalization and dissemination of these reports
  • Monitor news and current awareness topics for individuals and groups throughout the firm, providing hourly, daily, weekly and monthly current awareness compilations
  • As needed, maintain currency of print collection with loose-leaf and pocket-part updating
  • Assist with new employee orientation as needed
  • Assist with webinar coordination as needed
  • Maintain communication and order resolution with vendors
  • Compile monthly statistics for department
  • Provide training to employees on electronic research databases
  • Assist with firm’s knowledge management and AI-related initiatives
  • Assist in dissemination of information about new research products to employees and provide training
  • In absence of CRO, assist with day-to-day operations of Research & Information Center
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • Potential to assist with department’s DocuHelp document support team requests if past experience aligns

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, & Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience in legal administrative and/or library position, ideally with legal research or paralegal experience
  • Superior organization, communication (both verbal and written) and customer service skills
  • Familiarity with online research techniques and strategies
  • Ideal candidate will also have experience/skillset with document troubleshooting and support in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Attention to detail
  • Ideal candidate has some knowledge of the following databases/software: Westlaw Advantage, Wolters Kluwer VitalLaw, Bloomberg Law, Pacer, Practical Law, MGMA, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint

Schedule/Location:

  • 8-Hour Shift Monday to Friday
  • Hybrid work option if located in a Hall Render market.

Travel & Physical Requirements:

  • No travel
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing and operating office equipment
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending and reaching
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10–15 pounds (e.g., files, documents, office supplies) – if in person
  • Visual acuity to read screens, review documents and analyze detailed information
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, video and in person
