Finance Systems Manager

Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, P.C., a national law firm focused exclusively on matters specific to health care organizations, seeks an experienced Finance Systems Manager to work in our Indianapolis office within a hybrid working environment. The Finance Systems Manager serves as the strategic bridge between Finance and IT, owning the architecture, optimization and ongoing operation of the financial systems that support the organization’s finance function. This role combines deep knowledge of accounting processes with strong systems and project leadership to deliver reliable data, effective reporting, efficient processes and scalable financial technology solutions. Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Financial Systems Ownership & Governance

  • Serve as the primary administrator and subject‑matter expert for core financial systems, including Elite 3E, 3E Proforma, Chrome River, Intapp and other assigned platforms.
  • Own system configuration, maintenance, upgrades, enhancements and integrations, ensuring appropriate testing, documentation and change management.
  • Ensure the integrity, security and reliability of financial data across all systems and data flows.
  • Partner with IT to monitor system performance, maintain integrations and uphold system controls and governance standards.

Finance Technology Delivery & Transformation

  • Lead finance systems initiatives from requirements through deployment, owning delivery quality, timelines and outcomes.
  • Manage implementations, upgrades, integrations and user acceptance testing in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Act as the finance technology lead on major initiatives, proactively identifying risks and resolving issues before they escalate.
  • Translate Finance business requirements into practical, sustainable technical solutions.

Process Optimization & Systems Strategy

  • Identify and implement system enhancements, automation opportunities and process re‑engineering initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
  • Develop and execute financial systems strategies aligned with organizational objectives and future growth.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging financial technologies to recommend targeted improvements and innovations.

Stakeholder Partnership, Training & Enablement

  • Partner closely with Finance, IT and vendors to support ongoing system functionality and issue resolution.
  • Create and maintain clear process documentation and deliver training to ensure effective adoption of systems and workflows.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Finance and business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance.

Requirements, Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in financial systems management, finance transformation or related roles.
  • Extensive experience with legal or professional services financial systems, including demonstrated expertise in Elite 3E.
  • Strong understanding of core accounting processes, controls and month‑end close activities.
  • Proven success leading cross‑functional initiatives and delivering system and process improvements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strategic thinker with a pragmatic approach to technology‑enabled financial transformation.
  • Strong communicator who builds trust and influences stakeholders across Finance, IT and the business.
  • Detail‑oriented problem solver with a high level of ownership and accountability.
  • Organized, adaptable and effective in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Collaborative leader with experience guiding teams in financial or systems‑focused roles.

Job Type: Full-time
