Business Intelligence Analyst

Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, P.C., the nation’s largest law firm focused exclusively on matters specific to health care organizations, seeks a friendly, energetic and experienced full-time Business Intelligence Analyst. The Business Intelligence Analyst works primarily with the business development, marketing and finance teams of Hall Render. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in driving data-informed decisions and providing actionable insights. This role involves analyzing, interpreting and deriving meaning from complex and large datasets across several key business functions, including new business intake, conflicts analysis, financial analysis, marketing metrics, the firm’s CRM, human resources data, event delegate profile data and competitive data. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience working with sizable datasets, the ability to use data to tell the stories within, as well as proficiency in the Microsoft product suite, especially Power BI. The ability to simplify complex findings and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders – as well as initiate and manage projects – are predictors of success in the position.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation:
    • Work with extensive data from a variety of sources including financial, conflicts, marketing, websites, social media, HR and client matter records to identify trends, patterns and actionable insights.
    • Develop comprehensive reports, dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings clearly and effectively.
    • Support decision-making processes by translating data into meaningful, accessible insights for leadership and key stakeholders.
    • Ensure quality and reliability of data by independently reviewing sources and liaising with SME colleagues in other departments of the firm.
  • Collaboration with Business Intelligence Manager:
    • Depending on the project, act as project manager, or as a key point of contact, for cross-functional teams – including but not limited to firm leadership, attorneys, advisors, finance, IT, HR, business development and marketing – translating their needs into data requirements and actionable insights.
    • Manage specific projects – including project intake, definition, mapping, timetable and milestone development / management, as well as output definition and summary development / delivery – with support from other members of the Business Development, Marketing and Finance teams, as applicable.
    • Collaborate with and support the Business Intelligence Manager with data consolidation and integration projects, ensuring that data from various sources is accurate, reliable and accessible.
  • Communicate Complexity:
    • Simplify and explain complex data concepts for non-technical team members, ensuring a shared understanding of insights and recommendations.
    • Create presentations and documentation that distill sophisticated analytics into understandable narratives for firm leadership and other departments.
  • Data Quality and Compliance:
    • Monitor integrity across datasets and proactively address data quality issues.
    • Ensure data usage aligns with legal standards, industry regulations and firm protocols, especially regarding sensitive client or employee information.

Requirements, Education and Qualifications:

  • Power BI fluency / MSFT toolset experience
  • Salesforce experience
  • Demonstrates initiative and capacity to take charge of projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, business analytics, marketing analytics or related field, or relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis or business analytics, with a focus on large and complex integrated data sets / data sets from multiple disciplines.
  • Proficiency in common data analysis tools such as the Microsoft suite, especially PowerBI. Bonus points for familiarity / experience with Salesforce reporting.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools; ability to create clear and visually compelling reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable insights and effectively communicate findings to non-technical audiences. Enthusiasm for (say) building pivot tables … and excitement for surfacing the strategic nuances and telling the concise stories, that reside within them.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience in the legal field or health care sector is a significant plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex datasets and identify actionable insights.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex information simply and effectively.
  • Collaboration: Works well with others and across departments, able to meet diverse business needs. Approachable and friendly.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and multiple projects; ease and confidence interacting with senior professionals, executives and subject matter experts.

Travel Requirement: Occasional travel to firm offices or events may be required.

Work Location: Hybrid work option. Expected to be in office at least three days per week if located in a Hall Render market.
